Taashki Loves...

The 'Taashki Loves...' campaign features Charleston businesses that Taashki absolutely adores! You see, Taashki is new to this city, although you wouldn't know it when you see her strutting down King St. She followed the man she loved to Charleston, and left everyone and everything she knew behind. She didn't know a single soul and well, she felt alone..

And then it happened... Like a warm embrace on a freezing day, Charleston wrapped Taashki in its arms and took her downtown. At first, it was just a cup of coffee, then a yoga class, then a drink or two. And pretty soon, thanks to these fabulous businesses, Taashki started feeling like she had come home.

With the spotlight on her in the coming months, Taashki wanted to give back to the businesses that went out of their way to make the move here such a fabulous, welcome one. She wanted to say 'Thank You!' To Taashki, these businesses are Charleston's landmarks, because there's nothing quite like knowing you're a regular somewhere to make you feel like you belong. They infused a personal touch to their profession and Taashki is doing the same by telling you all about them... (drum roll...)

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC)
Behavioral Medicine Clinic
67 President Street, Charleston SC 29425
Tel: (843)792-0686
www.musc.edu/bmed/

First and foremost, Taashki loves MUSC because it was Taashki's landmark when she first arrived here and kept her from getting lost. It also kept her husband gainfully employed, so that she could work on the handbags. But most of all, Taashki loves MUSC because it takes a great institution to see the benefit in bridging the gap between medicine and art, and further, to align a fashion label with mental health for the betterment of the community. Vanessa Hill was the first person at MUSC to see Taashki's vision. She took that dream, made it her own, and goes out of her way to ensure Taashki's message and InsideOut collection reaches as many as possible. Thank you MUSC!

Charleston Power Yoga
557 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
(843) 513-3400
www.charlestonpoweryoga.com

The girls at CPY were the first friends Taashki made in this fair city. Since they were the only yoga studio that offered hot yoga, Taashki waited a whole two months for them to launch their studio and was the first one on the mat in their first class! With all the downward dogs and shoulder stands, Beth (Taashki's favorite yoga teacher and co-owner of CPY) instilled a sense of peace and belonging in Taashki's day-to-day that ensured she had enough energy to launch the handbag line. Beth and co-owner Sarah also welcomed Taashki's marketing ideas, introduced her to people they knew, and helped infuse enthusiasm for the Taashki label, long before we were ready to launch. You guys rock! Taashki will go to the mat for you any day!

Il Cortile Del Re Italian Restaurant
193 King Street, Charleston, SC 29401
(843) 853-1888
www.ilcortiledelre.com

There is nothing quite like a chianti reserva (or a macallan, depending on Taashki's mood) and a great conversation with Nikki behind the bar on a Friday evening. Top it off with fabulous ambiance, INCREDIBLE food (porcini ravioli anyone?), and Kim the owner making you feel like you're walking into the kitchen of an Italian family, not a restaurant, and you know why Taashki loves Il Cortile! They wedged themselves even tighter in her heart when they celebrated Taashki's birthday in style, with lovely Sean regaling them with fabulous boxing stories while serving them the most delicious meals in the world and making sure their glasses were always at least half full!

Ahern's Anvil
89 Brigade Street, Charleston, SC 29403-3125
(843) 722-4406
www.ahernsanvil.com

Ahern's Anvil captured Taashki's imagination and encouraged her creativity when she first arrived in Charleston. Walking into Ahern's Anvil's metal workshop gave Taashki all kinds of inspiration, and brought back fabulous memories of her incredible art studio at school. Sean Ahern, the owner himself, fashioned the most gorgeous Taashki signage in iron that really makes a statement and hangs in Taashki's office right now. Taashki looks at the shingle everyday and sighs a deep sign of comraderie with a fellow artist. His work - and his company - simply sweeps you away!

Kudu Coffee
4 Vanderhorst Street, Charleston, SC 29403
(843) 853-7186
www.iheartkudu.com

Taashki walked into another world when she first walked into Kudu. Not only did this African-themed coffee shop provide a welcome respite from a high heels, it also served great coffee and great conversation. Taashki loves Kudu because of the people who work there - both behind the bar as well as those behind a cup of coffee. That's right - Taashki discovered that Kudu is a mecca for creative professionals and made many connections while enjoying a cup of Adam's Dutch Dark and Nasty brew. So she grabbed her laptop and started working out of her 'downtown office', Kudu, twice a week. If you see her there, come over and say hello!

Boyd Boggs Furniture Design
1669 Meeting Street Rd, North Charleston, SC 29405
(843) 722-6115
www.boydboggsfurniture.com

Ah, the lovely Boyd... this man is art personified, but he never advertises the fact. Just like his logo, his beautiful custom furniture, is simple, but blindingly elegant. So impressive in fact, that you just sit back and say, 'Wow'. Taashki loves Boyd because despite his amazing workmanship and awards, he's incredibly down-to-earth. He's always willing to help and redesigned Taashki's living room in a matter of seconds, and then stuck around to do the heavy-lifting. Plus he loves dogs, and that is NEVER a bad thing...

Caviar & Bananas
51 George Street, Charleston, SC 29401
(843) 577-7757
www.caviarandbananas.com

Sometimes Caviar & Bananas really irritates Taashki... They insist on having the most delectable spread of fresh gourmet salads, sandwiches and sushi that it makes it REALLY hard for Taashki to choose what to eat. Ooh... and have you tried their Kobe Beef chilli dogs? Mmmmmmmm... Seriously folks, this place serves up the most delightful combination of food and because they let you choose the box size you want, you really can have a number of delightful treats. Taashki loves Caviar & Bananas because of their fine food, incredible crowd, to-die-for Eithiopian coffee brew and because it makes a great makeshift office with free wireless internet. You can actually eat healthy, have a great work meeting and feel like you've seen and been seen. Fabulous New York vibe with total Charleston heart.

Marion Jackson at Keller Williams Realty
(843) 442-4404
marionjacksonrealtor@yahoo.com
www.kwcharleston.com

There's no two ways about it - Marion Jackson is the most incredible realtor in town. Not only is he young, suave and SO much fun, he knows the market like no one else. He has a unique ability to just know which house is perfect for you, even when you don't know yourself. And he'll arm you with stories of the seller, the houses next door and some of the houses he's been in, that keep you informed as well as entertained. Take it from Taashki, looking for a perfect house can be exhausting. Marion, quite simply, makes it a cinch. His people skills are divine, he knows how to negotiate, and you will walk away with the house of your dreams, and will know a lot more about everything than you did before!

Khalil Devaux - KD Taxi Service
Tel: (843) 345 2850

When Taashki first moved here, she had to wait a while before she was allowed to drive. She had lived in huge cities with public transport her whole life, so driving had been a non-issue. But here she would have been completely stranded, cut off from the world - had it not been for Khalil and his taxi service. Taashki has tried many taxi companies in her area and ended up both disappointed and scared. Between taxi drivers arriving late or not arriving at all, and those that came with their scary-looking friends or picked up their cousin enroute on her fare, she was starting to feel like she should just hole herself up in her office. But then she tried Khalil. Not only does he show up early (and ALWAYS show up), he comes alone, works out a great flat rate if you use him often and the experience is like getting a ride with a friend. Khalil has single-handedly made Taashki mobile and she would recommend his taxi service to anyone, even in the middle of the night!

Visit the businesses above and tell them Taashki sent you. They'll show you their love too... And from time to time, we'll be running special events and promotions with them so if you sign up on our mailing list, we'll be sure to keep you in the loop!
